For the offshore activities in FLC Marine, we are looking for skilled and dedicated Deckhand/Lineman.

A Deckhand/Lineman plays a crucial role in supporting the safe and efficient operation of vessels, including ships, boats, and offshore platforms. They assist with various tasks related to navigation, maintenance, and cargo handling under the supervision of the Deck Officers and Captain. Deckhands work in a maritime environment and must adhere to strict safety protocols and regulations.

Who is FLC?

Femern Link Contractors, FLC, is the joint venture responsible for the design and construction of the Northern Europe’s biggest construction project resulting in the longest immersed tunnel in the world. Our joint venture consists of nine international construction companies with individual experience in large infrastructure projects. Together, we are committed to working together to deliver a state-of-the-art immersed tunnel, portals and ramps, delivered on time and safely, in a sustainable and ethical manner.

Main responsibilities (but not limited to):

Vessel Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on the vessel, including cleaning, painting, and lubricating machinery and equipment.
  • Assist with the inspection, testing, and maintenance of safety equipment, such as lifeboats, life rafts, and firefighting appliances.

Cargo Handling:

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of cargo, including securing cargo using ropes, chains, and lashings.
  • Operate winches, hoists, and cranes to transfer cargo between the vessel and dock or other vessels.

Navigational Assistance:

  • Stand watch as directed by the Deck Officers, assisting with navigation tasks such as lookout duties and monitoring navigational instruments.
  • Handle lines and assist with mooring and anchoring operations during docking and undocking maneuvers.

Safety and Emergency Response:

  • Participate in safety drills and emergency response exercises, including man-overboard drills and fire drills.
  • Follow established procedures for responding to emergencies, such as fire, flooding, or medical incidents, and assist in implementing evacuation procedures if necessary.

Deck Operations:

  • Perform deck operations, including deploying and retrieving buoys, anchors, and mooring lines.
  • Assist with the operation of small boats and watercraft for tasks such as crew transfers and surveying operations.

Communication and Teamwork:

  • Maintain clear communication with the Deck Officers, Engine Department, and other crew members to ensure the safe and efficient execution of tasks.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team, assisting other crew members as needed and fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic maritime training or certification, such as a Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) or Basic Safety Training (BST), is preferred.
  • Previous experience working on vessels or in maritime-related roles is advantageous but not always required.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor in a maritime environment, often in adverse weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions from superiors and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and participating in safety training and drills.
  • Basic understanding of seamanship, navigation, and maritime terminology.
  • Valid passport and/or TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) may be required for certain positions.
