About FLC:

At Femern Link Contractors (FLC), we are responsible for designing and constructing the immersed tunnel, portals and ramps on both ends of the tunnel, in Rødbyhavn and Puttgarden.

We are also building the facilities for prefabricating tunnel elements as well as accommodation facilities, also known as the “Tunnel village” in Rødbyhavn, which provides housing for FLC workers.

About the department:

The FLC Survey Department plays a key role in supporting the construction of this immersed tunnel project. The marine survey team delivers positioning, navigation, monitoring, and hydrographic survey services for offshore construction activities using advanced technologies such as multibeam echo sounders, Inertial Navigation systems, LBL and USBL systems, Fibre Optic Gyroscopes and many more. Together with over 60 hydrographic and topographic survey professionals from more than 15 countries, the department ensures accurate survey data for all project phases. The topographic survey teams support construction through stake-out, control, and as-built surveys, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment including Total Stations, GNSS, drones, laser scanners, and specialist software for planning, execution, and data processing.

Within the marine survey team, the Positioning Specialists play a key role in the immersion of tunnel elements. They install, configure and operate advanced positioning systems, combining GNSS, INS, LBL, tautwire, and distance sensor technologies to ensure the precise placement of tunnel elements.

Prepare positioning systems for (re-)installation operations by performing maintenance, calibration, and configuration of the hard- and software.

Configure positioning software in preparation for positioning operations, such as Qinsy, Delph SP and Delph INS and project specific software.

Operate and monitor the positioning systems during tunnel element installation operations, such as GNSS (Septentrio), INS (Exail), LBL (Exail), SVP (AML) and a project specific Light Tautwire and Distance Sensor system.

Remote or on-board troubleshooting of positioning system issues.

Analyse positioning data of tunnel installation process.

Write installation-, configuration- and commissioning reports for positioning systems.

Create reports for ‘as-installed’ and ‘as-configured’ survey set-ups.

Create ‘as-installed’ reports for installed tunnel elements

Cooperate with the operational team to schedule installation and removal of survey systems.

Cooperate with pontoon and vessel crews during remote- or on-board troubleshooting.

Concise communication with the immersion master during installation of the tunnel elements.

Degree, diploma, or equivalent professional experience in Hydrographic Surveying, Geomatics or Geodesy, Survey Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Marine Technology, Navigation, Positioning, or a related technical discipline

Minimum 5 years of experience with surface and/or subsea positioning systems.

Proven experience configuring, maintaining, and operating marine positioning systems during offshore operations.

Experience with working with Qinsy survey software.

Experience with USBL and/or LBL positioning systems.
