For the offshore activities in FLC Marine, starting up Q2 2024, we are looking for a skilled and dedicated Barge Officers for the assigned vessels ( spreader pontoon, protection layer pontoon, immersion pontoons and auxiliary equipment) for operation in the foreshore between Denmark and Germany.

The Barge Officer oversees the barge, positioning manoeuvring and operations under the directive of the Barge Master. The Barge Officer can be Head of the Watch. Furthermore, he is responsible for ensuring safe operations during the respective barge operation to ensure production activities are carried out as optimal and safe as possible. The Barge Officer is part of the marine crew but will work closely together with the Operations Superintendent and Survey department.

Who is FLC?

Femern Link Contractors, FLC, is the joint venture responsible for the design and construction of the Northern Europe’s biggest construction project resulting in the longest immersed tunnel in the world. Our joint venture consists of nine international construction companies with individual experience in large infrastructure projects. Together, we are committed to working together to deliver a state-of-the-art immersed tunnel, portals, and ramps, delivered on time and safely, in a sustainable and ethical manner.

Main responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Is shift responsible for the safe navigation together with the Master of the towing vessel
  • Translates the procedural requirements and plans to the deck team on board
  • Prepares, pre-sets, operates and monitors the integrated spread functionalities for the installation works
  • Monitors equipment operational state, performance, and abilities to ensure safety of the crew on deck and efficient installation operations
  • Advises on the establishment of the method of execution based on his/her experience and makes suggestions (e.g. new techniques, new approach,.) to optimize operation
  • Make suggestions to Marine Operations and Plant Department. about possible improvements to the vessel
  • Supports the execution of the project quality plan
  • Contributes to optimal communication between the different departments on board
  • Supports in follow-up on the necessary inspections on board related to vessel certification
  • Provides input to work schedules and duty rosters. And supervises the execution of the instructions and/or the work on deck
  • Ensures clear and accurate communication of work status at the end of the shift and at handover

Qualifications / Experience:

  • 3 years of marine experience in the maritime or offshore(dredging,rockworks, anchors, multicat, backhoe dredger), with increasing responsibilities.
  • Possesses good conflict resolution skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, excellent teambuilding and organizational skills and diplomatically handles confrontation.
  • Familiar with computer-based maintenance programs for offshore units.
  • Completion of all mandatory training and certification requirements by position
